udhaar
fiadoutanghutangudhaar

The credit book behind every corner-shop counter.

Shopkeepers say an entry the way they'd write it, in their own language. Udhaar keeps the ledger, tells them who to collect from and what to stock before the festival, and how much more credit is safe to give. It runs on the shop's own laptop, on open models.

The online demo is a sample shop with 13 months of history. Type into it; on the shop's laptop you can speak.

What it does at the counter

One box. Say or type a line and it's written down; ask a question and the answer comes from the shop's own records. The model decides what you asked. The numbers always come from the ledger and TabPFN.

Say it the way you'd write it

Marathi, Hindi, English, Spanish, Filipino or Indonesian, or the mix people actually speak. The entry is written in under a millisecond, and Gemma re-reads it in the background to fix anything the fast pass got wrong.

Ask what the notebook can't tell you

How much more credit is safe for a customer? TabPFN tests a ladder of amounts against their repayment history in one call, and the limit stops where their chance of paying late crosses the line. Every answer shows how it got there.

"Shinde mama la ajun kiti udhaar deu?"

How much more udhaar can I give Shinde Mama?
Safe to give Shinde Mama up to ₹4,750 more. He owes ₹2,633 now; the most he has paid back in a month is ₹7,402.

Catch the extra zero

Every entry is checked against what this shop usually charges for that item and quantity. In a credit book, a misheard "920" is a neighbour being asked for money they never borrowed.

Start the day knowing who to call

A short briefing every morning: who is likely to pay late and why, what to order before the next festival, and how yesterday went. One tap drafts a polite WhatsApp reminder in the customer's own language.

A list of who owes money stays with the shop

Speech, the language model and the ledger run on the shop's laptop. It keeps working when the internet drops, and an entry costs nothing but electricity.

Never leaves the laptop

  • The voice recording. Transcribed by Whisper on the laptop, then deleted.
  • Names, phone numbers and amounts. One SQLite file the shopkeeper owns.
  • Understanding sentences. Gemma 3 runs in Ollama, offline.

Can leave, only if you allow it

  • Anonymous numbers for TabPFN-3.5: amounts, day counts, weekdays. No names, no items.
  • Nothing at all with TabPFN's open weights installed locally.
  • Reminders and orders are sent by the shopkeeper, from their own WhatsApp.

Tested on weeks it never saw

We hid the future and asked each model to predict it, against the way shopkeepers decide today.

Forecast and risk numbers come from 13 months of sample shop history built to mirror a real kirana: weekends, salary week, festival build-ups and customers with different habits. A real shop's khata is exactly the data nobody should publish.
